Our composite gate boards are easy to fit and very low-maintenance, so only occasional inspections are enough to ensure they keep looking their best throughout the year. Besides these sporadic check-ups, they can often be left alone for months at a time: their plastic fibres and additives make them a poor home for insects for example, protecting them from termites and similar burrowing insects, and they’re more than capable of withstanding various types of adverse weather throughout the year, including rain, hail, sleet. While their colour may fade slightly initially, they can even be expected to keep their strong shade under the intense summer sunlight.Â
There are plenty of colours for you to choose from, too. You can pick your favourite from Golden Oak, Driftwood, Black Ash, Birch Grey and more! Whatever style you’ve envisioned for your property, rest assured we’ve got the perfect shade to suit you right here at North Valley Composites.

Yes, unlike many other suppliers, the composite boards have the woodgrain effect on both sides of the board. When installed in to your gate, they will look just as good from both sides!
Absolutely… yes!
You can cut the boards to size as required using a regular handsaw or circular saw. Just make sure you are using a fine blade suitable for wood and composite material. With the increasing popularity of composite gate boards, most blades now state this material on the packaging.
The composite gate boards are designed to be inserted in to a pre-fabricated frame to sandwich the boards together. This method gives a clean, modern & professional finish to your gate installation.
The other way to attach the boards is by bolting through them using galvanized coach bolts. This can be a great way to attach the boards if you don’t want a heavy metal frame surround.
Please be aware that you must pre-drill the holes for the bolts accurately or you may split the material. Also, don’t over-tighten the nuts, this could cause visible crush damage to the boards.
They are simply connected with loose fitting tongue & groove – there is no need for an adhesive between the boards. The frame or bolting method you are using to construct your gates will hold them in position.
There is very minimal expansion with the composite planks but we do still advise leaving a 8-9mm gap around the edges.
When planks are used vertically, we recommend using spacers in the bottom of the frame of your gate to elevate them from the bottom of the frame. This prevents the boards sitting directly in collected water.
We recommend using bolts as screws are likely to crack the boards. Bolts must be fully pre-drilled before insertion.
You get a 12 month warranty as standard on all of our products.

Just use a mild detergent and a soft brush to clean down your composite planks. If a more thorough clean is required then a regular household jet washer can be used.
